As seen on Industry Leaders TV, Amara Wellness Centre is more than just a clinic—it is a sanctuary where ancient Eastern traditions meet contemporary health practices, brought to life through the extraordinary vision of Dr Zara Celik.
Born in Turkey and migrating to Australia at the age of 15 with minimal English, Dr Zara Celik’s story is one of grit, perseverance and profound purpose. From these humble beginnings, she went on to complete a Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne, followed by a double degree in Applied Science and Complementary Medicine, capped with a Masters in Clinical Chiropractic. Her pursuit of holistic wellness also led her to New York, where she trained as a Health and Wellness Coach at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
Despite her academic and professional success, one thing lingered in Dr Celik’s heart—a yearning for the traditional Hammam spa rituals she had grown up with in Turkey. “I was pregnant and expecting my first child,” she recalls. “I remember meditating and imagining being in a Hammam, lying down on the warm marble and letting the steam relax me—detoxifying and purifying my body.”
Unable to find anything like it in Melbourne, she set about creating her own. Extensive research followed, including study trips to Istanbul and detailed conversations with the custodians of Turkey’s centuries-old Hammams. Inspired by the domed ceilings, heated marble slabs, and therapeutic steam chambers, Dr Celik envisioned a space where Australians could immerse themselves in the healing rituals of her heritage.
The result is Amara Wellness Centre, a uniquely Melbourne clinic blending natural therapies, organic materials and authentic Hammam design. The centre’s offering is as diverse as its founder’s qualifications. Beyond chiropractic care, Amara offers Endermotherapie, Endermologie and the cutting-edge Huber Motion Lab—services rarely found in Australia and all delivered with a focus on wellbeing rather than aesthetics alone.
Dr Celik is transparent about the nature of some of these services, acknowledging that treatments like Endermotherapie are not supported by strong clinical evidence. Each patient is thoroughly consulted beforehand to determine whether the treatment may be suitable for their specific needs, with Dr Celik drawing on her professional judgement and experience.
Amara Wellness Centre has drawn not only praise from health-conscious locals but also the attention of high-profile clientele and visiting celebrities. Still, at the heart of it all is Dr Celik’s quiet mission: to create a welcoming space that fosters healing, tradition and cultural connection.
Now featured on the Industry Leaders television program, Amara Wellness Centre is receiving national recognition for its innovation and authenticity. It’s a well-earned spotlight on a business that exemplifies how personal history can be the most powerful source of professional inspiration.
